Although shinty is highly popular to the south of Strathspey in Badenoch

, it has been many years since a team has been operation north of Aviemore. There was a Grantown-on-Spey team in operation in the early 20th century. Players in the area would often travel to play for Kincraig Camanachd or Boleskine Camanachd
