Strakonice (ˈstrakoɲɪtsɛ; ) is a town in the South Bohemian Region
of the Czech Republic
. Estimated population: 24,000.
. In the beginning of the 15th century the knights of St. John owned the whole castle as well as the surrounding manor. The castle experienced an extensive reconstruction to a representation residence of the Grand Priors of the Order in the 16th century, the later modifications were minor only.
Nowadays a part of the castle serves as a museum of the region of Strakonice.

Strakonice is also well-known for a brewery called: DUDÁK - Měšťanský pivovar Strakonice, a.s., located nearby the castle. The Strakonice Burghers’ Brewery is the last brewery in the Czech Republic to still be owned by a town. The tradition of beer brewing has been linked to the rich history of the Otava River region since 1649.
There is also conclusion of two rivers: Volyňka and Otava.

History
The settlement of this region took place in the second half of 12th century when a castle was built. In 1367 Strakonice obtained city rights.The Castle
The castle of Strakonice was built by an important noble House of Strakonice and they started the construction of their residence at the beginning of the 13th century. Later they donated a part of the castle to the knights of the Order of St. JohnKnights Hospitaller
