History
The Dutch part of the firm was founded in 1911 by D.W. Stibbe. Simultaneously, the Belgian part of Stibbe was established by Henri Simont sr. After the Dutch firm extended its activities by opening an office in New York, the two firms merged to rebrand as Stibbe & Simont in 1991. After a long history of expansion, which led to another office in London in 1994, Stibbe rebranded again to a shorter name and then joined the alliance of Herbert Smith and Gleiss Lutz in 2002. Stibbe has recently continued its expansion with the opening of a Dubai office in 2009 and a Luxembourg office in 2010. Today the firm numbers over 300 lawyers.In 2010, Stibbe was awarded Benelux Law Firm of the Year at the PLC Which Lawyer Awards.
