Early life

Howey was born in San Antonio, Texas, to director Bill Howey and Carla. He has two older siblings: Bret and Tammy. Although they moved a lot during his childhood, Howey's parents settled in Los Angeles, where he attended junior high and most of high school. After moving to Denver to complete his senior year, he earned a basketball scholarship to Northeastern Junior College
