. From 1961 to 1971 he maintained a private practice as a lawyer in Nicosia. He was appointed as a District judge on 1 January 1971. He was promoted to Senior District judge on 10 October 1980 and to President of the District Court on 1 January 1982. On 19 November 1988 he was elevated to the Supreme Court where he served until 27 March 2003 when he was appointed Attorney-General of the Republic of Cyprus, a post from which he resigned in April 2005.

He was elected as a member of the council of the Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Association (CMJA) in 1994 and as a Regional Vice-President for the North Atlantic and Mediterranean Region of the CMJA in 1997. As Regional Vice-President he organised the very successful follow-up conference on the Latimer House Guidelines in Larnaca
