History

Opened to traffic in 1985, Skudai Highway used to be a tolled highway until March 2004 when the federal government decided to abolish the Senai toll plaza. Previously, the concession of the highway was held by PLUS Expressway Berhad as a part of the North-South Expressway project. Today, only the Johor Causeway Toll Plaza is still in operation for Singaporean motorists, and the highway is now administered by Malaysian Public Works Department
