Ashok studies in Pune and has a girlfriend Tanvi. Shraddha's marriage is already fixed with Amit. Both of them like each other. Shraddha’s actual aim in life is to fulfill her parent’s dreams to visit the char dhams and complete the ritual taken forth by ancestors of their family. In this time, Shraddha’s third brother visits the family. Shraddha comes to know of his affair and supports him. Life seems very good but Shraddha doesn’t know Namrata, Rama and Manoj are actually conspiring against them and doesn’t want her parents to go to the pilgrimage to save the money. Even Guddi and Trilok are unsupportable of them. Later on Shraddha is startled on knowing that Amit will shift with her to America after marriage. She decides not to marry him because she doesn't want to leave her parents. After a lot of hesitation, she agrees.
Meanwhile, Guddi and Trilok instigates Ashok to start a business of his own. They give him money but also steal it thus proving them great and also saving their money. Finally Shraddha’s parents hand him over their pilgrimage money. Shraddha gets upset as she doesn’t want her parent’s dream to get ruined and so she asks Amit to make their marriage ceremony simple. Amit and his parents agree and so the pilgrimage money is saved and the money stored for Shraddha’s wedding comes to Ashok. But a shocker comes when the pilgrimage money is stolen as well but it is actually done by Rama, Namrata and Manoj and this gets revealed to the family by Guddi and Trilok. Shraddha and her parents are deeply hurt and Shraddha requests Ashok to hand over his business money to his parents but Ashok runs away from home to avoid giving money.
So Shraddha takes the bold step to prove herself as a dutiful daughter and asks Amit to postpone their wedding. But Amit refuses and their marriage is broken. Shraddha feels guilty for hurting Amit. She chooses to go on with life with all the ill-treatment from her sister-in-laws and middle brother. She slowly learns her chacha-chachi too are mean and want to usurp their house. The only one she can call her own is her parents and Santosh. But life is once again mean to her when she meets Swayam (Barun Sobti) who says he is a photographer but actually wants to usurp their house to make a mall. He is the brother of Satya Sarkar who is in league with her Guddi and Trilok (they are rather afraid of Satya because of his nasty temper). In order to raise money, Shraddha accepts to work with him but she is still unaware of the truth. Later his truth is exposed only after she gets the money. What’s more she also gets framed of being in an affair with him! Her family throws her out and even Santosh loses faith in her leaving Shraddha completely shattered. Her parents are very hurt with these things and leave house. They meet up with Shraddha in the temple and believe her. Together they go to stay with Pratima who is Shraddha’s friend.
Now the focus shifts to Pratima’s life and her own troubles. She can’t conceive which is why her husband doesn’t give her the rights of a wife, misbehaves with her and even slaps her. Another shocker comes to the viewers when it is known she is Satya Sarkar’s wife. So Shraddha is living in Swayam’s house! Shraddha comes to know Pratima’s plight and emotionally supports her. Once again in order for money Namrata, Rama, Manoj, Asok, Tanvi, Guddi and Trilok come together. Santosh knows the whole truth now and blasts at his family. While the others search for them to get signed at the property papers, Santosh is guilty and that’s why wants to find his parents. Meanwhile Pratima comes to Satya and Swayam’s search for Shraddha as they too want her signs for the mall as Shraddha is the sole owner of the land. When Pratima comes to know this, she manages to send Shraddha away.
Swayam decides to marry Shraddha and then get her sign willingly. Pratima overhears this plan and warn her family. Satya come to know of Pratima’s backfire and eventually throws her out but later also brings her back before breaking all their ties. On the other hand Swayam finds and says sorry to Shraddha, Shraddha refuses to forgive him but her parents agree. Swayam helps Shraddha’s mother to recover her eyesight as she is blind and Shraddha forgives him. Then Swayam asks for Shraddha’s hand in marriage. Everything goes alright until Swayam starts feeling guilty as he has fallen in love with Shraddha. Finally he reveals the truth and leaves. Shraddha is heartbroken.
The whole family finds Shraddha’s parents, ask for forgiveness and takes them back home. Shraddha agrees to get married to Raja (Vineet Kumar
) who is actually a goon and it is unknown to Shraddha and her parents. Santosh doesn’t want tthe marriage to happen as he knows Raja's truth it but Namrata convinces him that otherwise she would be married to Swayam who will make her pay forever and also they will later save her from Raja. Swayam comes to know it and rushes to save Shraddha’s life. It is revealed that Raja is not only a goon but already has a wife and a child. Raja is jailed, Shraddha forgives Swayam, the family is repentant and finally Shraddha Swayam get married before happiness also knocks Pratima’s life as she reveals the truth he is impotent and not her. Satya accepts her as his wife and also asks for forgiveness.
Lead protogonist of the series, she is the Shravan Kumar of the story. She is pretty to look at and simple and innocent by nature. She is a typical small town girl who loves her parents more than anything else. She is her parents’ favorite and the only one to have been inculcated with the good values that her parents possess. As is evident, she is very attached to her family; calls her eldest brothers Santosh, Sannu bhaiya and Manoj, Mannu bhaiya. Their wives dislike Shraddha but her innocence doesn't allow her to understand their true deceitful personalities. Her simplicity doesn't allow her to have enemies and shields her from all the negativity and bitterness that abounds her. She shares a great relationship with the grandchildren of the family which is only natural considering that her childish innocence the most evident trait in her personality.
Male lead, introduces himself to Shraddha as a photographer of an international magazine and deceives her into believing that they are looking for a face like hers for their magazine.

Jagdish Jaiswal, Shraddha's father, is essentially the Ram
of the family. A simple man with a few needs, Jagdish Jaiswal the eldest son and now the oldest member of the family is a religious person.
The Sita
of the family, Laxmi is a small town lady by heart; sweet, simple, innocent and extremely religious. She is a housewife and from the very beginning, a very responsible person. At every step, she stood by her husband Jagdish and helped and supported him.
Santosh Jaiswal, Jagdish and Laxmi’s eldest son is known as Sannu in the house. He is a simple and a soft spoken person and loves his family a lot. But he gets influenced by his wife and brother easily which makes him weak. He later begins to support Shraddha and his parents.
Namrata is Santosh’s dominating wife and family’s eldest daughter in law. Namrata belonged to a small village near Ujjain
. She is the most cunning person in the house. All plans are made by her.
Manoj, popularly known as Mannu in the house, is tall and well built. He is Jagdish’s second eldest son. Unlike his elder brother, he is very ambitious, short-tempered and insidious almost. He loves his wife a lot but follows his bhabhi aka Namrata like no one else. He thinks she can never be wrong.
Rama is Manoj’s wife and just like the Jaiswals comes from a business community family. Her parents are just a little wealthier than the Jaiswals. She is very beautiful and arrogant both about her family's better standing and her looks. She often becomes insecure seeing her husband and her bhabhi's aka Namrata's chemistry as Manoj follows his bhabhi blindly.
Ashok is Jagdish’s youngest son and hence the pampered child of the family. He is handsome and very sophisticated, mostly in appearance and outwardly manners. He doesn't want to hurt his parents but as he gives money more importance, he goes against them.
Trilok is Jagdish's younger brother. After father's death at a very young age, his older brother Jagdish devoted himself to earning for the family and it was his singlehanded efforts that Trilok received his education and a living in form of a new business which Jagdish set up for him. Unfortunately however, after getting married and getting success in the business of manufacturing 'agarbatti
', he has forgotten all about his brother's contribution in his success and looks down upon his brother for being less affluent than he himself is.
Gudiya Jaiswal, Trilok's wife is known in the family as Guddi Chachi. She is a negative character but the kind who evokes laughter. She is fat, lazy, cunning and someone who spends most of her time whining and complaining.
After being introduced to Shraddha earlier in the story, they agree to get married. However their marriage gets broken later on due to a misunderstanding. He thought Shraddha wants him to dance to her tunes and that's why asked to postpone their marriage which was not true.
