ShayTards is a web series which documents the lives of entrepreneur, actor, and YouTuber, Shay Butler (web alias, ShayCarl), his wife Colette (web alias, Katilette) and their four children. The show consists of daily vlogs, that are usually 8 – 20 minutes in length, that are filmed, edited then uploaded every day onto YouTube as single video formatted home videos, or "vlogs".

A video uploaded by Shay got chosen and from there he started getting subscribers on his main channel, and shortly afterwards he started the "ShayTards" channel, which originally was going to be a weight loss channel, but has turned into a daily, everyday episodic web series (vlogs), consisting of comedy and realistic appeal. As of today, Shay and his family live in Los Angeles.

But since the ShayTards have been vlogging for more than two years now, they have since changed it into:

on June 11, 2009, before which they used an older version Flip camera without the HD feature and on special occasions, have used the Canon Powershot SD3500 IS

for some videos. The vlogs used to be edited by Shay himself, however, with the recent founding of VLOG Entertainment, Shay has hired an editor, (BrettTheIntern) to edit them using Final Cut Pro

Shay & Colette recently started their own podcast called "WhenTheKidsGoToSleep", which has reached to be within the Top 10 podcast downloads on iTunes.
Background
After Shay and Colette had their third child, Shay became interested in YouTube, amazed at the content posted by other users. Shay entered the last year of his twenties, and wanted to do something special, so he (along with Ben Donovan, Lisa Nova (Sister of Ben Donovan), Dan Zapplin, Ezra Cooperstein and a couple of other Business associates) started & founded Maker Studios (a company dedicated to making Digital Video Content for YouTube and other Social Media Outlets). ShayTards came into being when Shay got on BlogTVBlogTV
