Women
The top finish for Serbia and Montenegro in Athletics was a 6th place in the Women's marathon from Olivera Jevtić
. Jevtić stayed with the leading group through 30 kilometres, but when the medalists headed off the front of the pack, she was unable to match them, ending up around four minutes back. The only other top-10 performance came from Dragutin Topić
, who set a season's best in qualifying for the men's high jump final.
The men's team from Serbia and Montenegro had won gold at the 2002 World Basketball Championships as team Yugoslavia, but in Athens they struggled, putting up the worst Olympic performance in their history. At the World Championships, they had beaten New Zealand in the semifinals and Argentina in the finals to claim the title. In Athens, both earned their revenge, beating the Serbia and Montenegro team in group play. Losses to Spain and China, 12th at the 2002 Worlds, resulted in a last place finish in the group. The team did beat Angola in the 11th place game, but overall, the tournament was a disappointment. The team's leading scorer was guard Milos Vujanic
with 13.5 points per game, while Dejan Tomašević
led in rebounds with 9.2 per game.
Filipovic and Zoric were just 0.3 seconds from qualifying for the final in the 500 metres race, but fell just short, 11th overall.
They also did not qualify for the final in the 1000 metres race, 14th overall.
Stevic pulled out on lap 11, having fallen well behind the main pack.
team was the only team in the Olympic football tournament not to earn a single point, losing all three of their matches, ending up last in both goals scored and allowed. They tied their last game with Tunisia in the 87th minute, but gave up an 89th minute goal to lose it.

She trailed a Ukrainian opponent by 0.8 points going into the last two shots, but made up enough ground to force a tie and a shoot-off.
