 and supported by the Seneca Park Zoo Society. Larry Sorel is the Director of the Zoo and Rachel August is the Executive Director of the Seneca Park Zoo Society. The zoo itself was established in 1893, and began a redevelopment project in 1991.

One of the more recent additions to the zoo is the Rocky Coasts exhibit complex, a region dedicated to animals of the polar regions of the world, such as penguins, sea lions, polar bears, and caribou. The exhibit complex is highly recommended for visitors to see. There is also a subterranean viewing structure where visitors can see the California sea lion

Presently, the zoo is expanding, with several new exhibits in various stages of development. These include the already-opened new habitat for elephants Genny C. and Lilac, a baboon exhibit, and a lion exhibit that is under construction.
