The village of Sellindge is a community of 3,000 residents in various farming-related historical cottages. It is a community that has a high proportion of disabled persons living within the parish. The village is situated on a part of the Kent Downs having the largest wild acid bog in England. There are many rare species of British wildlife being spotted, golden badgers, greater spotted woodpeckers and barn owl, to name but a few. The brook also is host to adders and native lizards and slow worms as well as dragonflies and very rare British butterflies such as the common blue and peacocks, and hawk moths — the biggest moths in the UK. The village has a colourful history with there once having been a house of ill repute in the village and the post office having been victim to ram raiders
, as well as having had a plane full of gold bullion crash into the village.
