She was ranked number one in the world by the UCI http://www.uci.ch/ucinet/default.asp?page=rankingsdetail&RankingsDetailID=541&discipline=BMX&continent=MON&ridercategory=WE&RankingsRace=MON&RankingsType=Individual&year=2008&l=ENG in 2008, and was one of the favorites to win the BMX women's event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, finishing 4th.

Walker has also won 9 New Zealand age group titles from 1999 to 2008.
