and Muttiah Muralitharan
. In July 2007 he scored a hundred against Eton
at Lords for Harrow.
An allround sportsman, Northeast is a national schools rackets champion, a county squash
player and cross-country runner, and has been offered county trials in football and rugby. He made his Kent first team debut in a List A match against a touring Sri Lanka 'A'
team in July 2007, however, the match was abandoned before he had the chance to bat.
Northeast made his first class debut for Kent on 19 September 2007 in their final LV County Championship game of the season, against Durham at the St Lawrence Ground.
In July 2009 Northeast showed good form for England Under 19s against Bangladesh. In the 2nd Test match at Derby he scored 107 in the first innings and 149 in the second innings. He followed this with scores of 123, 41 and 62 in the One Day Internationals, top scoring on each occasion.
