SAGA was formed in 1953 under the name Sears Roebuck del Perú S. A. In 1988 it was renamed to the SAGA initials, as Sears began abandoning its South American operations. The legal name became Saga Falabella in 1996; the new Chilean owners decided to keep the SAGA name to better establish themselves in the Peruvian market.
