The Sadh is a community, mainly in North India
, traditionally associated with Agriculture, textile dyeing and calico printing. They are located mainly in Uttar Pradesh
, Haryana (The ancient battle which was fought by Satnamies against Emperor Aurangzeb in Narnoul Maandi (Haryana) is proof of their existence in Haryana), Rajasthan and other parts of the country.
In Uttar Pradesh they concenterated in Farrukhabad District
, also are in Saharanpur
, Mirzapur
, Meerut and Bareilly
districts, due to urbanization many of them have been moved to delhi and mumbai
This is one of the oldest community as known its origin can only be predicted by the ancient battle which was fought by Satnamies against Emperor Aurangzeb
in Narnoul (Haryana) when he was converting all people in to Muslims, it was the Satnamies who revolted against him.
In Haryana they concenterated in Sonipat, Rohtak, Jind, Rewari district.
In Rajasthan they concenterated in Jodhpur, Marwad, Pali, Bhartpur district.
Marwad, Pali and Jodhpur Sadh are known as Marwadi Sadhs.
The Satnamies are treated all sadh in equally manner .
The Sadh have traditional councils, and these councils resolve any disputes within the community. They are an endogamous community
The Sadh are followers of the Satnami sect. They are a Strict vegetarian community.
There has been recent trend of shifting towards metropolitan cities like New Delhi Lucknow and Mumbai.Now They are also lived in Haryana State(Dist.Sonipat,Jind,Karnal,Kaithal, Rewari) & some of them in Ludhiana ,Punjab.
They lead simple lives. They believe in pray of Almighty God.
These are among the Upper-Middle Class section of the Society at an approximation the per capita income of sadh's in Delhi/NCR would be more than : 30,000 $

The Sadh's are monotheist. They are not Hindus commonly mistaken as and neither are they Muslims. They have their own set of beliefs. They don't believe in Idol worship. They believe in meditation and praying one God. Their holy book is called Nirvana Gyan. They are pure vegetarians(not even eggs). Present circumstances
The Sadh specialize in calico printing and colour dyeing, tie/dyeing of Cotton and silk cloth, nowadays many of Sadh are merchant exporters, while many are involved in Processes of Manufacturing like Printing etc. The community is now involved in the wholesale side of this industry. Many Sadhs are farmers in many UP/Haryana/Rajasthan villages.In Haryana they concenterated in Sonipat, Rohtak, Jind, Rewari district.
