Ryan Glen Mason is an English footballer who plays as an Forward and Attacking Midfielder and for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur
, and is a former England U19
and England U20
player.
on 27 November 2008 as a late substitute against NEC Nijmegen.
During the 2008–09 season he topped the Academy scoring sheets with 29 goals in 31 games as Spurs finished runners-up in the Premier Academy League.
In the Summer of 2009 Mason went on loan to Yeovil Town
along with fellow team mate Steven Caulker
.
He made his league debut at the start of the 2009–10 season against Tranmere Rovers
where Yeovil won 2–0.
Mason made a promising start to his time at Yeovil, scoring from a free kick in his second match against Colchester United
and from a long-range strike in their next game against Exeter City
to earn a draw.
The goal against Exeter was included in BBC Sport's "Goals of the Week". According to the Spurs website, "after impressing for Terry Skiverton's
men at the start of the 2009–10 season, the loan deal was extended for a further three months".
Along with fellow Tottenham loanees, Jon Obika & Steven Caulker
, on 5 November 2009 their loans were extended until May 2010. Mason was recalled prematurely, on 13 March 2010 back to Spurs after playing 28 league games for Yeovil and scoring 6 goals.
In August 2010, Mason was loaned for the first time to Football League Championship
Doncaster Rovers
on a two month loan deal, and made just 5 appearances. Then in January 2011, Mason was loaned back to Doncaster Rovers until the end of the season and made a further 10 appearances.
On 28 July 2011, Mason signed a new two year contract with Tottenham Hotspur keeping him at the club until June 2013 and was then immediately sent out on a season long loan deal to Doncaster Rovers. Mason was recalled back to Tottenham Hotspur in November 2011 after making just 5 appearances for Doncaster Rovers since the start of the season.
