restaurant, observed LeVin leave at 1 AM in his Porsche 911 Turbo. LeVin then proceeded to drive the car up and down Las Olas Boulevard
. Hours later, the same Porsche struck and killed two British tourists. LeVin originally claimed that his friend Derek W. Cook had been at the wheel at the time, but later accepted responsibility for the deaths. In an unusual move, LeVin, who has previous convictions for striking a police officer
with his car and instigating a police chase and for cocaine
possession, received no jail time, instead receiving two years of unmonitored house arrest
and ten years of probation
in return for an undisclosed monetary settlement.
