Playing career

Played on the 1984 National Champion BYU Cougars football team team, switching from center to offensive guard; played in the 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1984 Holiday Bowls as part of four WAC championship squads at BYU; was second-team All-Western Athletic Conference as a senior and played in the Hula Bowl; drafted in the third round of the USFL Draft by the New Jersey Generals

Early Coaching Career

Anae began as offensive Line coach at University of Hawaii in 1986 and continued through the next year. He came back to BYU for 1990 and 1991 as a graduate assistant for its offensive line, and followed up at Ricks College from 1992 through 1995 as its offensive line coach. In 1996 he coached the offensive line for Boise State University, and coached UNLV's front line in 1997 and 1998. He led the offensive line at Texas Tech University from 2000 to 2004. In 2005 he came back to BYU where he served as its offensive coordinator until his resignation Dec. 30, 2010. Anae currently heads into the 2011-12 season as The University of Arizona's offensive line coach and running game coordinator under Head Coach Mike Stoops.
