Pikermi is linked with Marathonos Avenue (GR-54). The area around Pikermi is surrounded by pristine pine forests eastward and farmlands to the east and elsewhere. The mountains cover the northern part with grasslands and housing developments filled with luxurious houses northward. The seat of government is in the town of Pikérmi (pop. 1,168 in 2001), the second-largest town in the community.Pikermi is located about 19 km east of Athens

Businesses are the most popular industry in Pikermi. The population in the 1990s shifted from rural to urban as suburban housing boomed in Pikermi.

The forest fires of 1995 ravaged parts of Pikermi, the 2005 fires damaged a part of its forest.
