The village is located at about 1060 metres above sea level.

There are several craft shops selling ceramics, leather and clothes. Also on offer are locally produced specialities like mountain cheese or ham.

During the winter the Sierra Nevada and the Alpujarra mountains get covered in snow.

There is a bus connections running most days from the town of Granada, Spain.
