Pacific Cycle, Inc. is an American
bicycle
importer and distributor founded in 1977 by Chris Hornung. The company owns the following brands; Schwinn, Mongoose
, Roadmaster
DYNO (formerly part of GT
), InSTEP, Pacific Outdoors, Powerlite and Cannondale. Pacific Cycle also markets bicycles under its own name. Pacific Cycle sells more bicycles than any other company in North America and is one of the most prolific bicycle suppliers in the world. Alice Tillett became the President of Pacific Cycle in 2008.
In December 2000, Pacific acquired the bicycle division of Brunswick Corporation and as part of the acquisition, the company obtained control of the Mongoose
and Roadmaster
brands. Mongoose had maintained a strong reputation for quality and performance, particularly among younger, BMX enthusiasts. Mongoose has recently been introduced into the mass channel.
In 2001 Pacific purchased the bicycle assets of Schwinn/GT Corporation and obtained control of the Schwinn and GT brands. Schwinn Motor Scooters were introduced in 2005.

In June 2008, Pacific Cycle acquired the assets of PTI Sports, a leading U.S. designer, manufacturer and distribution of bicycle parts, helmets and other accessories.
In July 2009, Pacific acquired the assets of Iron Horse Bicycle and obtained control of the brand.
