An appellate judge in Ohio must be a licensed attorney within Ohio, and have six or more years of Ohio legal practice or have served as a judge in any jurisdiction for at least six years. The current judges of the court (as of June 2007) are: Cynthia Westcott Rice, Diane V. Grendell, Colleen Mary O'Toole, Mary Trapp, and Timothy P. Cannon.
Each case on appeal is decided by a panel of three judges. Cases are decided through a review of the record of the inferior court or tribunal, as informed by the briefs submitted by the parties and by oral argument (if requested by either party).
