The Moon is Earth's only known natural satellite,There are a number of near-Earth asteroids including 3753 Cruithne that are co-orbital with Earth: their orbits bring them close to Earth for periods of time but then alter in the long term . These are quasi-satellites and not true moons. For more...

Earth
Earth is the third planet from the Sun, and the densest and fifth-largest of the eight planets in the Solar System. It is also the largest of the Solar System's four terrestrial planets...

Pythagoras (crater)
Pythagoras is a prominent impact crater located near the northwestern lunar limb. It lies just to the northwest of the somewhat larger Babbage. The crater has an oval appearance due to the oblique viewing angle...

Oceanus Procellarum
Oceanus Procellarum is a vast lunar mare on the western edge of the near side of the Earth's Moon. Its name derives from the old superstition that its appearance during the second quarter heralded bad weather...

Markov (crater)
Markov is a lunar impact crater that is located in the northwestern part of the moon’s near side, in the Sinus Roris region of the Oceanus Procellarum. It lies to the south of the crater Oenopides, and is connected to the continental region to the north by ridges along the northern rim.The rim of...

This formation is an old crater that has been heavily eroded by subsequent impacts, leaving a low outer rim that is generally hilly and contains a few clefts. There is a gap in the southeastern rim, and the level interior is attached to the lunar mare
Lunar mare
The lunar maria are large, dark, basaltic plains on Earth's Moon, formed by ancient volcanic eruptions. They were dubbed maria, Latin for "seas", by early astronomers who mistook them for actual seas. They are less reflective than the "highlands" as a result of their iron-rich compositions, and...

to the south. There are several small craters lying near the eastern rim, and the remainder of the floor is marked by tiny craterlets.

To the southwest is the remnant of Oenopides R, of which only parts of the rim are still protruding above the surface and the southern rim is completely missing.

Satellite craters

By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater mid-point that is closest to Oenopides.
