The North Atlantic Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

, the division was responsible for coordinating all military construction in Europe. It also coordinated the construction of the nuclear bomb, which was code named the Manhattan Project
because of the location of the division's headquarters office.
The current commander of the division is Brig. Gen. Peter A. (Duke) DeLuca, who is directly responsible to the Chief of Engineers
. Within the authorities delegated, the division commander directs and supervises the individual district commanders. The division commander also serves as the federal representative on the Delaware River Basin Commission
