The league has announced it does not intend to compete with the NLL, but will serve alternate markets where the NLL has no presence.

Currently, five teams have announced they will be playing in the NALL's inaugural season: these are the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Shamrocks

History

The league was announced in 2011, with the intention of starting play in January 2012. According to Sports Business Journal, the league once sought to become an official developmental league for the established National Lacrosse League

, but the plan was rejected. As of August 2011, it plans to field five teams in cities outside the NLL's market area for its inaugural season. Teams will play twelve games, six home and six away, as well as two exhibition game
