EMOI surely become one of this sector's pioneering factor. With Rp 8.6 quintillion contribution on 2000 GRDP (Gross Regional Domestic Product), it occupies the first rank followed by industrial sector (Rp 4.7 quintillion).

Politics

The current regent is Dr. H.T. Alamsyah Banta replacing Ir. H. Tarmizi A. Karim, M.Sc inaugurated by former governor Abdullah Puteh on August 2004. After the Local Elections on December 2006 Mr. Tgk. Munir Usman as a Mayor of Lhokseumawe City until 2010.
