NWS-9 began broadcasting on 5 September 1959. NWS-9 was the first television station broadcasting in Adelaide. NWS-9 studios is located at Tynte Street, North Adelaide. The station was owned by Rupert Murdoch

News director, Tony Argas announced that Kelvin would continue to present the occasional special report and fill-in a few times a year when presenter are away.
