In the 1980-81 NHL playoffs, the Calgary flames called Dwyer up from the minor league for a game against the Minnesota North Stars. Although the flames lost the game, Dwyer was very successful in his playoff debut, marking a goal in the third period. He is one of only a few people to ever score a NHL playoff goal.
