 from their youth ranks. He was seen as a very talented player for his young age and played 73 times for Emelec. However, in September 2007, he tested positive for marijuana shortly after a league match with Deportivo Cuenca and was banned for 2 years from football.

He moved to the nation's capital in January 2009 to play for Deportivo Quito
