The area was made up of farmlands. Farmlands used to dominate the land which included groves. In the mid to late 20th century, urban development and industrial buildings replaced much of the farmlands. The industrial area is around the northern and the northeastern part of Metamorfosi. Today, most of the land is residential area. The southern and the central part are urbanized while the northern part is industrialized. The companies include Tudor Hellenic SA on Plastira street.
