Megali Doxipara is a village in the municipality of Orestiada
in the northern part of the Evros Prefecture
in Greece. Chandra are connected with two roads connecting the GR-51 (Alexandroupoli - Orestiada - Nea Vyssa - Ormenio) and a minor paved road with Mikri Doxipara. The area are mainly made up of hills and mountains, farmlands dominate the area. The municipal boundaries with Kyprinos
is to the west, Trigono
to the north and Didymoteicho
to the south.

The village's decline in population was several in the prefecture that did not lost as much, it lost by around a third between 1991 and 2001.
In the year 1994-95 the square of the village was renovated.
The name during the Ottomans Empire was Dugantzi, as the old people of the village say. Dugas in the local dialect is the Eagle, because of the big number of the eagles it took the name Dugantzi.
