. It educates about 1,700 students and is in the middle of a 52 acre campus in Mayfield Village, Ohio. The building that is now the 8-9 building was opened in 1963, the building that is now the 10-11-12 building was opened in 1970, the building that is now the Excel TECC building was opened in 1972, the pool and field house were added in 1989, the science wing was added in 1999 and also an expansion of the music room facilities were completed. In the summer of 2011 a multi-Million dollar renovation project was started and is anticipated to be completed in late 2012 or early 2013.

Academics

Mayfield High school has a variety of classes to choose from which include math, science, social studies, english, art, computer, health and physical education, family and consumer science, and the Excel TECC program. Mayfield also has a variety of honors and AP classes as well as special education classes.

Athletics

Mayfield is a member of the Northeast Ohio Conference

. It currently offers eleven men's varsity sports and ten women's varsity sports. Men's fall sports are football, cross country, golf, and soccer, the winter sports are basketball, hockey, swimming, and wrestling, and the spring sports are baseball, tennis, and track & field. The women's fall sports are cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, and volleyball, the winter sports are basketball, cheerleading, gymnastics, and swimming, and the spring sports are softball, and track. Mayfield's rivals are the Brush Arcs and Solon Comets.

Mayfield Wildcats Football

The Mayfield Wildcats football team led by head coach Larry Pinto (2008 Division II Coach of the Year) has had four straight 10 win seasons (2006-09) making the State playoffs each season (winning at least 1 playoff game in each appearance). The Wildcats have won two conference championships in that span (2006 - WRC, 2008 - NOC). The 2007 team made the State semifinals (3rd time in school history). The 2008 team went 10-2 and recorded 6 straight shutouts (Week 4-9), in week 10 Mayfield gave up a touchdown with 35 seconds left in the game, which prevented them from a 7th consecutive shutout. The Wildcats had an All-State Running back for the second consecutive year (Ashante Williams-2007, Tim Wetzel-2008). The 2009 team went 9-1 in the regular season for the third time in 4 seasons. The Wildcats have had at least 4 All-Ohio football players from 2006-2008 (6 in 2006, 4 in 2007, 7 in 2008). In 2009 place kicker Carey Spear tied a State Record with a 61-yard field goal in a regional semifinal game against Solon (other 61-yard field goal was against Solon). In 13 seasons under head coach Larry Pinto the Wildcats are 98-46 (68.1 win%).
