Maulana Habib al-Rahman al-Azmi was a great Indian Scholar of Hadith
and Fiqh
. He was born in a small district Mau
, near Varanasi
(Old name Banares) in the Uttar Pradesh
State.
He did the great work of bringing Musannaf of Abd al-Razzaq al-San'ani
back to Muslim World. This was his greatest contribution to the Muslim World. He has written hundreds of books including Nusrat al-hadith, Insab wa kifa'at ki sharai haisiyat, and lots of other books on hadith Sharif. He founded an islamic school (madarsa) with the name Mirqat al-Uloom in Mau which is still there and students from all over the country are having benefits of studying there.
