Geography

Maladers has an area, , of 7.6 km² (2.9 sq mi). Of this area, 27.3% is used for agricultural purposes, while 65.3% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 3.7% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (3.7%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).

The municipality is located in the Schanfigg sub-district of the Plessur district at the entrance to the Schanfiggs valley. It consists of the haufendorf village (an irregular, unplanned and quite closely packed village, built around a central square) of Maladers and the hamlets
