Development history

 2000 in Germany and went into production in 2003. As a result of the overwhelming sales of the model, MZ also produced some variants of the 1000S such as MZ 1000SF naked bike and MZ 1000ST sports touring bike.

MZ 1000ST

The MZ 1000ST is a sport touring

 motorcycle based on the MZ 1000S. The engine fitted to the 1000ST is identical to that fitted to the MZ 1000 SF SuperFighter. The engine is tuned for torque and produces 83 kW at 9000 RPM.

The 1000ST had a number of significant changes from the 1000S to make it suitable for long distance touring:
  • Higher tubular handle bars
  • Lower foot rests to provide a roomier seating position for long distance riding
  • A higher screen (30 mm higher) to provide additional wind protection
  • A new rear seat cushion to provide more comfort for the pillion
  • Altered clutch springs that reduce the effort required to operate the clutch
