 runs alongside the village and is a popular angling river. There is a fish hatchery in the Crawiau area of the village run by the Seiont, Gwyrfai and Llyfni fishing association.

Facilities

There is a primary school with about 300 pupils, and a secondary school with 800 pupils in the village. There are a couple of pubs and hotels, and a holiday park to the south of the village.

The village's snowiest and coldest month of the year is January, with the mean temperature between 0°C (32°F) and 4°C (40°F). Snow and ground frost can occur from late November into early April.
Due to the close proximity of Snowdonia, the village normally expects sleet or heavy snowfall to fall at an average of 15 days every winter.
During the summer, June and July are typically the warmest months with average temperatures ranging from 17°C (68°F) to 20°C (72°F).
