's final concert performance. On its release a small number of copies were manufactured with a defect in playback speed. Experience Hendrix replaced the defective discs free of charge.
Jimi told a reporter at the festival site on the first day: "I’ll play tomorrow. Tomorrow at noon. I don’t have to, but I want to. The fans are out there in the dirt, I have to play for them. They came because of me. [Otherwise] I would have a bad conscience...”
There is no proof on hand for the long-running rumour that a stage-hand called "Rocky" (note: no JH roadie by that name exist) was shot in the leg. But Hells Angels did cause troubles and after the concert the trailer of the promoter was burned down. Two weeks later, Hendrix was found dead in London.
Several amateur recordings of Hendrix at Fehmarn (his last official concert) were made and released as bootlegs over the years, and after a "new" source (taped from under the stage with a mike placed in a drum) of audio from the festival's promoters surfaced, the album was mixed and produced.

Hendrix and MK II line up of the Experience (with Billy Cox on Bass and Mitch Mitchell on Drums) were originally scheduled to play on 5 September, but heavy rain and gale-force winds interference delayed their appearance to the next day. Hendrix could have gone home on the 5th but he decided to play a day later at noon, and duly got booed for his troubles by the festival crowd at the start of his show.Jimi told a reporter at the festival site on the first day: "I’ll play tomorrow.
