Primary schools
Primary schools are the most common kind of school in Stockport. Nearly half provide education for nursery age children (ages 3–4), and several further institutions exist that provide nursery education that are not attached to schools. The rest of the schools start from Reception (age 4) to Year 6 (age 11), though seven are split into infant and junior schools (ages 4–7 and 7-11 respectively) and are managed separately. Some institutions are merged schools from such arrangements. The largest are three form entry schools, and the smallest contain classes of mixed ages. All have an associated secondary school which children will generally move to when they finish Year 6. Some follow a curriculum based on a particular religion: Catholic, Church of England or Jewish.School | Locality | Ages | Capacity | Ofsted | Est. | Notes |
