) after he lands on Bara Magna, having been banished by Makuta Teridax, following the events of the Battle for Power 2008 storyline, and he meets the Agori and the Glatorians. Once a great and powerful ruler of an inhabited 40 million foot high exploratation robot, Mata Nui finds himself stripped of his stature, and banished to a remote, decaying wasteland - a desert junkyard. Local villagers scavenge the remains, building shelters, survival gear and arenas where each village's best gladiator is pitted against another to end disputes. Mata Nui, in search of a way home, finds himself in the middle of one of those battles. However, when Mata Nui leaves the arena triumphant, he is as surprised as the villagers, who then ask him to fight their real enemies, the Skrall and the Bone Hunters. United with his band of Glatorians, he struggles to unite a devastated land, and to find the secret to reclaiming his own lost body.

Bionicle 5

The fifth movie was intended to have been about Mata Nui, Ackar, Kiina, Gresh, and Berix traveling through the north half of Bara Magna to find the power source hidden in the Valley of the Maze. They would also make new friends along the way, Oris, a jungle tribe Glatorian, Tera and Likus, two con-artists from the Iron and Ice tribes, and a defected Skrall. The movie would end with Mata Nui, Kiina, and Ackar landing on the green moon of Bara Magna, which is Bota Magna, a planetary object with bio-mechanical dinosaurs. The movie was intended to be released directly to DVD in fall 2010, but instead, the movie was canceled, and the 2010 story became about Makuta Teridax coming to Bara Magna, for a final battle against his former "brother," Mata Nui, due to many children having pleaded for this battle, budget cuts, and due to the fact that the Lego Company was no longer getting any new profits from Bionicle.

Canceled Bionicle Books

  1. Bionicle Legends #7: Invasion · Greg Farshtey · Invasion was set to be the 7th book in the Bionicle Legends series and was slated to be released in 2007. It was canceled because Scholastic decided to shorten the book schedule of 2007 from 4 books to 3 books, so Greg Farshtey did not have enough space to write Invasion and tell the rest of the 2007 story in just 3 books, so Invasion was canceled. The book was very hyped, and a group of fans on the Bionicle fan website BZPower.com made a large campaign on the website, but it failed. Instead, the 7th book ended up being Prisoners of the Pit, which was originally going to be the 8th book. The plot of Invasion was about the Toa Inika's journey through the cord to Mahri Nui, from Voya Nui. During the story, Makuta Teridax possessed Matoro's body while he used his mask and Vezon attacked them with the Spear of Fusion. However, the Spear was destroyed completely by Jaller's fire. Then, a tribe of Zyglak attacked the 7 of them and Vezon was taken captive. It was also supposed to reveal how Krana were made, among many other things. Greg Farshtey has said there is a chance that some of the content planned for Invasion would end up on Bioniclestory.com as a short story serial.

Canceled Bionicle Games

  1. Bionicle: Legends of Mata Nui was planned to be released for PC. It would have covered the events of the 2001 storyline. The player played as the Toa Mata exploring the island, using Kanohi masks and battling Rahi. 8 Beta disks were released to the public, but now they are very hard to find. Due to a programming error, the player couldn't advance from the first level, where you played as Onua. The game was canceled because of lack of budget and a huge amount of errors. Not much else is known about the game.

The packet came with a mini comic that had an instruction booklet telling the person how to play the game. More Media

Besides the movies, books, comics, et cetera, there are other ways parts of the Bionicle Story have been told.

Reading Materials

The official Bionicle website has some information about parts of the Bionicle story. (Also, some of the comics mentioned earlier are available on the site.) There are also some biographies of some of the characters.

BionicleStory.com (see External Links) has many sections with much information about the Bionicle story (including characters, locations, and more). The only sections that actually tell stories like a book are the "Story Serial" and "Blog" sections in the "Latest Story" area of the site, and perhaps the "Story Details" section in the "Story Overview" area as well.

MP3s/Podcasts

The official Bionicle website has two dowloadable MP3s (as well as two PDF files with the "lyrics" to the MP3s) that describe the rise the body of Mata Nui (a Bionicle Character) out of its slumber and Mata Nui's exile from his body when Makuta Teridax took it over.

BionicleStory.com has many podcasts available for download in the "Latest Story" area of the site that tell much of the Bionicle story.

Other

On the homepage for the official Bionicle website (see External Links), there is a collection of audio recordings, called the Mata Nui Saga, that tell some of Mata Nui's story. Each one has a picture, text, and music with it. They are split into thirty-four "chapters." However, the last chapter has no audio, just text a music.

There are also downloadable songs and other things on the website that are inspired by different sections of the Bionicle storyline.
