The Linguapax Institute is a non-governmental organization based in Barcelona, Spain, that is "dedicated to the preservation and promotion of linguistic diversity worldwide." Among its areas of concern are endangered languages and Multilingual Education....

 to "to linguists, researchers, professors and members of the civil society in acknowledgement of their outstanding work in the field linguistic diversity and/or multilingual education."

Nominations for each year's prize are normally submitted in December of the year previous.

Linguapax Prize recipients

The Linguapax Prize was first given in 2002. For the first three years (2002-04) the prize was awarded to two individuals each year. Since 2005, one person has been recognized each year.
