). La Heutte has an area, , of 8.08 km² (3.1 sq mi). Of this area, 2 km² (0.77220431718507 sq mi) or 24.8% is used for agricultural purposes, while 5.24 km² (2 sq mi) or 64.9% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.74 km² (0.285715597358476 sq mi) or 9.2% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.03 km² (7.4 acre) or 0.4% is either rivers or lakes and 0.05 km² (12.4 acre) or 0.6% is unproductive land.
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 1.9% and transportation infrastructure made up 4.0%. Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 2.8% of the area 62.7% of the total land area is heavily forested and 2.1% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 5.9% is used for growing crops and 9.5% is pastures and 9.0% is used for alpine pastures. All the water in the municipality is in rivers and streams.
In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SPS
which received 38.6% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the SVP
(26.2%), the FDP
(17.3%) and the Green Party
(6.1%).
The age distribution of the population is children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 21.5% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) make up 63.1% and the seniors (over 64 years old) make up 15.4%.
