industries. LMS offers a combination of 1D and 3D virtual simulation software, testing systems, and engineering services. Originally, the name LMS stood for Leuven Measurement Systems, but that name is no longer used.

History

As a spin-off of the K.U.Leuven’s PMA department , LMS was formed in 1980. LMS started out as a company specialized in noise and vibration

and physical prototype testing. In 1983, LMS develops its first computer guided measuring system. Later, in 1987, LMS introduces the new generation of measuring systems based on UNIX

-workstations.

In the eighties, LMS expands its business by setting up an international network of branch and sales offices. The first branches open in Europe’s major car manufacturing countries - Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom - and later on, in 1988, it also starts an office in the United States.

The greater industry importance of virtual testing and simulation prompted LMS to innovate and transform itself into a combined test and simulation company, driven to tackle key engineering challenges. As a result, the company continues to grow and during the nineties, opens offices in the Far East. LMS mainly expands, however, by acquiring several of its suppliers and competitors. Examples are: Numerical, SKALAR Computer, Difa Measuring Systems and CADSI.

At 2007 LMS bought IMAGINE

RAYNOISE

LMS RAYNOISE is a computer-aided acoustic design and analysis system for the architect or building acoustician. It uses advanced acoustic ray tracing methods to predict the sound field produced from multiple sources at any location inside a 3D space and in the far field outside. It automatically handles complex interactions - such as multiple reflections from different surfaces. The results are shown in a variety of ways – from 1/3 octave spectra and echograms, to colormapped SPLs and a choice of sound quality metrics.
