The school works in close partnership with Torry Academy in order to offer pupils a wider range of courses, some of which are facilitated by Aberdeen College

In 2010, due to restructuring within the school (and across Aberdeen City Council schools), all houses were retired and organised into 3 larger houses (still named after Scottish castles): Fyvie, Craigievar & Edinburgh. At this time many departments were merged to create a smaller number of Faculties. For example, Modern Language and English departments became the Languages Faculty.

Local charity Blue Horizon
, based at Kincorth South St. Nicholas church, also works very closely with the school. In previous years this partnership has seen many pupils and staff given the opportunity to take a trip to Peru
, for around 2 weeks, to visit street boys centres and see other charitable works from the Vine Trust. It is one of just a few schools in the UK to give pupils this opportunity. A fourth trip is planned for June/July 2012.
An international school partnership is in place with School 71, Gomel, Belarus
. Since the partnership begun in October 2004 many activities have taken place including school exchange trips for pupils and staff.

History
Until 2005 the school had five houses, to which students were divided into, these were: Braemar, Crathes, Dunnotar, Glamis & Stirling (all named after Scottish castles). Due to the falling school role, Crathes house was retired and pupils were re-distributed across the remaining 4 houses.In 2010, due to restructuring within the school (and across Aberdeen City Council schools), all houses were retired and organised into 3 larger houses (still named after Scottish castles): Fyvie, Craigievar & Edinburgh.
