at large has a history of boat racing and water sports. The first Kelowna Regatta was held in 1906 consisting of canoe and boat races, swimming, diving, and water oriented events and soon competition with other towns in the Okanagan began. The present day event is called Kelowna Regatta and no longer has the high speed boats.
