student had no other acting experience apart from the drama classes he had been taking at school but decided to take the role. He was the longest staying actor on the show until leaving in 2005. He also had his first kiss
on the show, a first in New Zealand television.
Burnett went on to work as a boom operator
on the show. In September 2006 he filed for voluntary bankruptcy.
Burnett then worked as the sound
recordist for the New Zealand
version of the Australian travel
show Getaway
.
Burnett has also published a novel called The Bible II, a comedy
and in 2008 he appeared on TV3
's weight related show Downsize Me!
weighing in at 120 kg. Burnett admitting his diet consisted of burgers, pizza and beer.
In 2010 he released his first independent film Captain Amazingly Incredible and the Space Vampires from the Evil Planet!!!, which he wrote, directed, and acted in.
Burnett has also released an iPhone game entitled Max Vector: Resolution.
Burnett is currently studying videogame development at Media Design School in Auckland, New Zealand, and won the 2011 SIDHE Elite scholarship award.
