In 1956, KFSD-FM adopted the classical music format which it retained until January 13, 1997 when it dropped the format in favor of classic hits
branded as "The Eagle".
KFSD was sold by Lotus Communications to Nationwide Communications
in 1996 followed by a change of call letters to KXGL on February 3, 1997 to better match the rebranding to "The Eagle".
KXGL was acquired in 1998 by Jacor
/Citicasters (later to be acquired by Clear Channel Communications
).
On August 17, 1998, KXGL dropped the classic hits
music format and call letters adopting a soft and easy music format (soft AC to compete with KyXy)(the KJQY call sign was also on a previous KyXy competitor 103.7 KJQY). Under the call letters KJQY
the station was called "K-Joy 94.1 Soft and Easy". In 2000 KJOY changed formats from Soft and Easy to a new format called "Soft Oldies". Then with the destruction of K-Best 95, KJOY became a full oldies station (which was moved to 95.7 and 99.3 and rebranded KOOL).
On November 21, 2001, KJQY swapped formats and call letters with "Mix 95.7", also owned by Clear Channel, and for a short time played Christmas music
until December 26, 2001, when it acquired the KMYI call letters and became known as "My 94.1" and adopted the present hot AC format. The format was being simulcasted in Temecula, California
on KMYT until December 2, 2004, when KMYT switched to a Smooth Jazz
format.
On September 19, 2005, Jeff and Jer came to KMYI, and the station rebranded as STAR 94.1, picking up both the morning show and the moniker of the former "Star 100.7
", which had switched to a Jack FM
format earlier in 2005.
On August 20, 2009, Jeff and Jer exited Star 94.1 to be replaced by AJ Machado from AJ's Playhouse from sister CHR
station KHTS-FM
Channel 933. On August 31, 2009, AJ in the Morning debuted on Star 94.1 with his morning crew from Channel 933 and formerly from the Jeff and Jer Show, Delana.

on September 14, 2006, when they passed their 10,000 sticker limit. This began with former morning show hosts Jeff & Jer but stickers are still available to this day.
Star also hosts the PurseParty each year in which the contestants can pick a purse and win between $1000 and $5000 from a purse.
Also, as known on the previous Star 100.7, the Star Freeloaders contest items still exist.

Previous to the local duo Jeff and Jer, Jagger and Kristi had their own morning show on in the My 94.1 days of the station. Like Jeff and Jer they were from the old Star 100.7 as well before they moved here. The married couple is still on today on Magic 92.5
