, first opened up in the fall of 2001. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee
. It is the first Catholic high school to be founded in Tallahassee. The first graduating class was in 2004, with the first charter class graduating the next year, in 2005. John Paul II has a campus that includes a fully equipped gymnasium, chapel, main building, soccer field, and baseball field; with plans of new construction in the next decade.
The school also offers two on-site Dual Enrollment Courses, History of the United States I and English Composition I, with Tallahassee Community College
as well as off-site courses with Tallahassee Community College and Florida State University

In 2009, the John Paul II girl's volleyball team were the state runner-ups in Division 1-A.
In 2011, the John Paul II girl's Volleyball team won the regional championship.
Also have won districts 5 years in a row
John Paul II hosts the District volleyball, basketball and baseball events.

John Paul II, also referred to as "JP2", has always had a large amount of student participation in the arts. It has received notice for its active drama department led by Mrs. Ashley Sosis, the main director for the musical and dramatic arts, a chorus that competes state-wide in choral competitions, a growing musical instrument program, and a highly celebrated creative arts department led by Mr. John Rooks that has competed in art competitions and has been showcased at varies museums and shows throughout Tallahassee.
