, Joe MacLeod grew up on the road touring with his parents—who were well-known country music singers—and their band. Performing from a very young age, he got his start in the local theater scene in Nova Scotia and then went to study acting in Calgary, Alberta, at Mount Royal College
. It was there he developed his craft doing musical theater and stand-in work on feature films. In 2001 he moved to Vancouver and began his film and television career with a small role in Steven Spielberg's Taken. He has also been in the MTV scripted drama Kaya
