Musical career

Govaert wrote her first songs on her piano at age 12. She graduated from the Dutch Rockacademy in Tilburg

. Prior to that, she had started the band Krezip in high school. In 1997, Krezip started playing on various events, such as Lowlands

Govaert was the band's main songwriter. She was the band's pianist as well, until guitarist Annelies Kuijsters was forced to take over this position, having lost her ability to play guitar after a severe injury. Govaert enjoyed giving up her position as pianist, noting "...now I can concentrate on my performance."

Solo career

After quitting Krezip, Govaert announced that she would now be pursuing a music career. She will release her debut solo album, Good Life, in August 2010.

Govaert resides in Haarlem

 with her partner Ivo Maissan.
On October 29, 2008, Govaert announced that she was expecting a child with Maissan, and that she was taking a hiatus from music industry. Govaert gave birth to a son, Billie Miel Maissan, on March 26, 2009.
A daughter, Govaert's second child, Sis was born on November 10, 2010.
