History
Jacksboro was founded in 1808 as a permanent county seat for Campbell County, which had been created in 1806. The initial property for the town square was deeded by Hugh Montgomery, one of the earliest settlers in the area. The town was named for Judge John Jack of RutledgeRutledge, Tennessee
